I get dozens of emails every day asking for advice – How do I build a business? How do I make money and travel? How can I learn to trade? How do I invest in real estate?

These are all great questions, but sometimes I can tell the person's focus is on the wrong place – getting the money.

Some people think that if they can get more money, they'll be happier

Maybe you've caught yourself saying something like, “I'd be happy if I could just win that damn lottery.”

That was the thought process of millions of Americans that flocked to buy lottery tickets and drive the jackpot to a record high of $1.5 billion.

People were spending insane amounts of money hoping and praying they'd beat the 1 in 292 million odds.

But the truth is very few people could handle a windfall of millions of dollars

After all, 70% of lottery winners go broke within 7 years.

They often get divorced, become addicted to drugs, and lose their close relationships.

So why does this happen time and time again?

Simple, many lottery winners don't have a plan for how to use their time.

Once the euphoria of being a multi-millionaire wears off, they turn to activities that leave them empty.

Let's do a little exercise…

Sit back, close your eyes, and imagine you just won $100,000,000

That's One Hundred Million Dollars.

I think we can agree that's enough money to do whatever you want, right?

Ok, now ask, “After the celebrations subsided, what would I do with my average day?

In other words, how would you spend your time if money and time weren't an issue?

If you're like most people, your fantasy might include laying on a beach, racing Ferraris, or jet-setting around the world.

But what comes after you get bored of lounging in the sand and drinking mai tais?

The sad truth is that most people NEVER invest even a few short minutes thinking about what their perfect day would look like.

Unless you'd be completely fulfilled by creating nothing or helping nobody, then odds are you'd fill your day doing something interesting…

So, what are the 1-5 things you'd do with your day if money and time were in abundant supply?

It might be a challenge if you've never thought about it.

This isn't an easy exercise, but it's one of the most important things you'll ever think about.

Perfect Day Example – The 4 Things I Do Every Single Day

Over the years, I've built businesses and worked in several areas from real estate, finance, education, and cash flow businesses.

I've also travelled to about 100 countries doing epic adventures, exploring, scuba diving, trekking, partying, and relaxing.

And after spending 15 years as an entrepreneur and 8 years travelling the world, I've identified exactly what I want to do every day no matter if I'm broke or wealthier than Buffett.

Here are the 4 things I want to do every single day:

  1. Hang out, eat, travel, and brainstorm with brilliant entrepreneurs, traders, investors, and innovators.
  2. Mentor aspiring entrepreneurs, traders, and investors.
  3. Invest and grow my capital through financial markets, real estate, startups, and anything that interests me.
  4. Help build interesting companies.

Again, those are the things I'll continue to do no matter what my net worth…

And these 4 things aren't “work”, because I'd do them no matter my current income.

For example, in a few weeks I'm going to travel with a group of incredibly successful and smart entrepreneurs to Costa Rica, Thailand, Myanmar, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Korea…

And you can bet I'll be checking off those 4 things on every leg of the journey.

Look, life is too damn short to spend your days doing something that doesn't inspire you.

So think about what you would create, invest in, and build if money or time were abundant?

You might be thinking, “Well that's nice, but I'm in debt and stuck in a 9-5 that doesn't pay well.”

The beautiful thing is you can start moving towards your perfect day, now!

You don't have to wait for someone's blessing or a certain net worth to start doing the things on your list.

The first step in living your dream life is to DECIDE.

Decide the things you'd do no matter how much wealth you created.

In fact, I think you'll be surprised at how easy it is to start moving towards that perfect day.

Sure, there are going to be roadblocks – get over them. Stop complaining and start DOING.

Ok, enough of the self-help rant. Let's talk about practical steps you can take to make this a reality…

The second step is to execute like you are starving.

After I left Corporate American in my early 20's, I had limited time until I ran out of money…

So I cut back on expenses, worked my ass off, and executed on my plans like a mad man.

Looking back, those were some of the most fun and invigorating times of my life.

And I'm not the only entrepreneur that's lived through that…

After netting $160 million from the sale of Paypal, Elon Musk had to borrow rent money because he sunk all of his money into Tesla and SpaceX.

Elon experienced massive hurdles along the way including 3 failed SpaceX launch attempts that nearly left him bankrupt…

But he pushed on and created the highest rated car of all time!

So I don't care if you have a financial cushion right now or not – If you're serious about making your perfect average day a reality, then start executing like you're starving.

This lifestyle isn't for someone who wants to coast by and have a mediocre life. The reality is that some people don't want to do big things. This outlook is for people who want to create, innovate, help, inspire, and change the world.

And since you're reading this, I'm guessing you're serious about doing something big…

So start moving towards your perfect average day, execute like you're starving, and remember that time is your most valuable asset!
