I used to hate waking up because that meant I was about to be overwhelmed by massive to-do lists and dozens of people wanting something from me.
It was instant stress from the moment my eyes opened…
Until I decided to flip the switch.
Instead of letting outside forces dictate my life, I made a conscious decision to focus on two major life themes every day…
Growth and gratitude.
Rather than let my mind immediately jump to the calls, emails, meetings, and endless list of things I have to do, I now give myself a few minutes to set the tone of the day.
Growth is the thing we're all after, right?
It's the driving force behind every entrepreneur and investor. If you're not growing, you're dying.
But instead of thinking of all the “have-to's” and “should's”, life becomes much easier when you start to focus on doing just one thing that will move you closer to your goals and life mission.
Try to grow today by focusing on the most important project or task that's going to make the biggest headway.
That way, if all else fails you know you did the #1 thing to make the most progress. Everything else is just a bonus, and the sense of accomplishment will act as fuel to keep you going.
On the other hand, growth doesn't mean a damn thing if you don't have gratitude.
Gratitude is the act of recognizing the good things in your life…
And no matter how bad you think things are, there's ALWAYS something to be grateful for.
You can have all the money in the world, be married to be most beautiful spouse, and have all the toys…
But without gratitude, you'll never be fulfilled.
The moment my eyes open in the morning, instead of thinking of all my to-do's, I focus on 3-5 things I'm grateful for. It's a game changer.
I live my life walking down the tight-rope of growth and gratitude.
On one side, you focus on taking massive action to do big things. And on the other side, you take the time to appreciate where you are in life.
After all, isn't life more about the journey than the end?
